Now on to the Shoe Box Card Swap! Have you ever participated in one of these? I went to one last night and it was so much fun!!! Everyone was asked to bring in one card made completely, then bring the materials for the number of attendees to make that same card. This included paper cut to the size needed for the card, embellishments, ribbon, stamps, etc. The host only asked that you bring your own adhesive, scissors and anything else unique to your card. The host also asked that you keep the card simple.
Here's my materials for the Shoe Box Swap.
This is the finished card. I left the right side open for others to add the sentiment they wanted. I brought along a couple of different sentiment stamps for the others to add the one they felt best fit the card.
Here's the one finished card I brought along as an example.
Sometimes a really simple card is needed in cases of sorrow, or encouragement.A shoe box swap is a great spin on a traditional card swap and a great way to see how many different ways given all the same materials how different crafters come up with different card layouts.
Enjoy your day!

Thank you Karon

my cost savings tip is to use my computer to write card sentiments instead of using stamps. there are so many free fonts available & i am able to type my sentiment in any size, shape or color that i want. i figure that i have saved a zillion dollars by not buying so many stamps. haha
i was with susie at last night's shoe box swap....my first ever and i really really liked it. i hope we do it again.
My lss has a "new to you" sale a few times a year where you bring in your old stuff and sell at a craft yard sale. It is a good way to get rid of stuff you don't use and also to pick up some gently used stuff fairly reasonable.
Check out Stampin Up's Clearance Rack. They have GREAT deals, and they frequently update the site with different products.
I love this, Susie. My neighbor's mom passed away last Saturday...this card is perfect!
Your card is sooo cute!!!! I don't create cards, but all these ideas are wonderful!
I am a coupon girl when it comes to crafting!!! However, I recently did a spring cleaning craft room series with one of my friends, I found quite a bit that I didn't realize I had purchased. So if ya just go searching your craft rooms for those hidden gems, you really don't have to purchase anything except adhesive!! That also includes the hidden gems on all those cricut cartridges, they have at least "700" images on a full cartridge!!! Provo craft just keeps us buying!!!
Well, I hope this helps... I need to save too!
linda makes such a great point! But I love the stamps! I'll be back to see what you decide. I need to trim it down myself! Thanks for posting, friend!

I've had to really tighten up myself. I love linda's suggestion about using her computer to come up with sentiments! Aside from using coupons, I've really made a point of using what I have. Funny how I have no room & yet still have the thought of bringing in more stuff.
LOVE the idea of the shoebox card swap. Your card is perfect too -- great idea for a sympathy card.
xxx ooo
This is such a great card! I love the simplicity of it. TFS
I always use coupons when shopping for my crafting supplies and I love shopping the clearance section.
You card looks great, would love to attend one of these card swaps!
Love that adorable tree. I try to save costs by using coupons and shopping the clearance aisles at Michael's and Hobby Lobby. :)
Such a great card! Love the papers! I always check out the clearance isles first, then I keep a shopping list of my "must have" Items and only but if I have a coupon! Good Luck!
Such a creative swap! Beautiful card too!! Thanks for sharing :-)
